Coole Park

July 23rd

Celtic and Rock fused together

Presented by The Wine Garden Of Pelham

Coole Park is a new fusion of Celtic and Rock music. Their sound includes all the elements of Celtic (folk, east coast Canadian, medieval, Irish, Scots, Gaelic, New Age, Old Thyme, Old English, ethnic) and a multitude of Rock sub genres (Roots, Blues, Pop, Hard rock, Soul, Funk) creating an exciting tour-de-force featuring fiddle, mandolin and vocal harmonies combined with rock guitar, bass and drums.

Coole Park founder, Aaron Solomon has performed with pop sensation Shania Twain, rock band Big Sugar, blues legends The Holmes Brothers, jazzy Jeff Healey and modern classical a cappella vocal group The Star-Scape Singers. Through the 90s, he was heavily involved in the Toronto Celtic scene, performing in many pubs as a solo act and as a band member. He toured the US as a duo featuring violin, mandolin, button accordion, guitar, percussion, and vocals.

Drummer Steve Heathcote has performed with jazz artists including Holly Cole, Joe Sealy, Guido Basso, Oliver Jones, Brian Hughes and the Stan Kenton Orchestra. His music has taken him across North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. His expert musicianship and willingness to play "outside the box" brings a fresh approach to Celtic rock drumming.

Russell Edward Williams is one of Toronto's most adaptable guitarists having performed blues with Dutch Mason, world beat with South Africa's own League of Nations, R&B with Bobby Soul (formerly of the Platters), and Creole French music with Levitation ( from the Caribbean). He has toured all sixteen Caribbean islands, Canada, United States, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Russia and Denmark. He continually amazes audiences with his guitar styling and musical prowess in Coole Park.

Chris Gartner brings vibrant innovative colors to Coole Park. He has performed internationally with artists such as jazz rock madmen The Look People, Kevin Hearn (of the Barenaked Ladies) and Thinbuckle, jazz/cartoon band Stoopy and east Indian/world music group Tasa.

Ray Caldwell hails from Scotland and has lived in Canada since 1974. His primary instrument is the Uilleann Bagpipes (Irish Bellows Blown Bagpipes). He also plays Cittern, Tin Whistle, Acoustic Guitar and Bodhran (Hand held Irish Drum).
He has performed with Alan Frew, Sam Reid and Chris McNeill of “Glass Tiger” fame and Pat O'Gorman of "Rare Air", “Na Cabarfeidh" and “Brian Pickell Band”. He was recently inducted into the North American Comhaltas (Traditional Irish Music Society) Hall of Fame.
